Bone Singer Air Element Art Gallery

Air is the mysterious unseen that fills the expanse that divides heaven and earth. It is the force necessary to energize us, to move us into action, to develop the power of our minds, our intellect, and our thoughts. Air gives us those "aha!" moments that allow us to shape the world we live in. The element of air inspires us and gives our ideas wings.

Dancing Girl moves to the music of the wind rustling through the grasses. Her body flows and turns with vital energy, her breath quickens, her heart soars. She becomes the sky, the wild breeze; she takes flight through her dance.

The painting Itzpapalotl personifies the knife edge of air. Also known as "Obsidian Knife Butterfly", a goddess of creation and transformation, Itzpapalotl is shown wearing butterfly wings to indicate her shamanic and transformational powers. Her appearance as a dragon with butterfly wings symbolizes the human fear of death, yet provides hope for a gentle sleep, transformation and rebirth. I was drawn to her great beauty and the danger lurking beneath. To me she represents the wild spirit that whispers within each of us.

The paintings in the Air Gallery remind us that every breath is sacred. The wind, a birdsong, a chant, a prayer, a lover’s sigh; the breath that keeps us alive also connects us to the Divine.
